Review: Vicious by LJ Shen

Title: Vicious
Author: LJ Shen
Pages: 326
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 5/5

Synopsis:
Emilia
They say love and hate are the same feelings experiences under different circumstances, and it's true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn't leaving until he takes me with him.
Vicious
She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my vest friend's ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn't.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.

Review:
Vicious is one of those books that I continuously come back to. There are a handful of books that I always keep downloaded on my Kindle to go back to when I feel like reading, even if it's just three pages in the morning to wake myself up. Vicious is one of those books.

He started my love affair with L.J. Shen and I don't regret a moment of it. I've read all of her books and let me say that I'm an uber fan. Whenever she comes out with something new, it'll be on my list.
Shen knows her way around a bad boy and wrote the formula on how to make her readers fall in love with them. Vicious was a man that I hated to love and loved watching all of his twisted ways pan out.

There is no doubt that you'll hate Vicious at some points in the story but because the timeline jumps back and forth, you'll always end up forgiving him and even rooting for him. And because the best of these notorious bad boys usually have some dark secrets, Vicious is no different. He might be a rich son of a bastard but he wasn't exactly raised with a loving hand.

Vicious might be horrible to Emilia but she holds her own to the point where you're proud of her for not backing down to him. She has so much growth from the jumps from high school to her present life. Forced from her family with her little sister as her only connection, her life was twice ruined by Vicious. But don't worry folks, Emilia takes her revenge as she starts to shatter the ice surrounding Vicious.
Because Emilia and Vicious have history, that means there are secondary characters that are present throughout but they're actually unique and interesting enough to not want to skip the pages they take up. Friendships are questions and a band of brothers is tested.

Vicious has all of the aspects a juicy romance requires. Bad boy. Sassy woman. Heat. Humor. Love. Lust. Heart.

Like I said, it's a winner.

Teaser: The Foxe and the Hound

About THE FOXE & THE HOUND

When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven…well, not so much.
It’s just that my lofty dreams—making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily—have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.
That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.
With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.
Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.
It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.
It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

Review: Lovestruck by Lila Monroe

Title: Lovestruck
Author: Lila Monroe
Pages: 202
Publisher: Lila Monroe Books
Source: KindleUnlimited
Rating: 5/5

Synopsis:
Will Cassidy is hot, infuriating, and the guy behind the biggest heart-stomping humiliation of my life. He's also hosting my BFF's destination wedding at his super-luxe tropical resort, so short of a hurricane or outbreak of the plague (here's hoping), I'm stuck within tongue's arm's reach of him for the next seven days.

But I'm not a naive college girl anymore, and there's no way I'm falling for his (many) charms again. I just have to ignore the romantic wedding shenenigans, his miraculous abs, all those intimate beach sunsets... And did I mention those abs?

Maybe a wild vacation fling is exactly what I need to even the score... But between the scorching chemistry and all-inclusive margaritas, I'm getting drunk on love. Which definitely isn't part of the plan.

Can I keep my heart zipped - even if my bikini bottoms are lost somewhere on that nude beach? And how do you let go of the past when you're holding on tight to the past's (very ripped) torso?

Review:
Ruby is such a fun, free-spirited girl with a job all of us creative writers and marketing people want! A USC graduate, she created a cozy little Los Angeles life for herself as the CEO of her very own PR firm. With a specialty in social media kid sensations, Ruby's life is always fun and a little crazy. But, none of the scandal's she comes across are as devastating as her college humiliation that involves the very hot Will Cassidy, the man who owns the pair of abs she never quite got over.

So, when she runs into Will LAX not looking her best and he offers to upgrade her to first class with drinks on him, like any rational woman, she accepts. The teasing taunts and the memories of their prior friendship turned heartbreak is the only think keeping Ruby on her toes. But, like all good situations, bad (or fun?) things happen.

Lila Monroe created a fun light romantic read that has you attached to the characters from the very first page. Ruby's humor bounces off of the page and you have no choice but to laugh along with her and be jealous of her crazy Mexico adventures. The chemistry between Ruby and Will is so good you have to feel sorry for Ruby as she tries to deny her libido and listen to her damaged heart.

Yes, Will Cassidy is everything you're looking for in a sexy billionaire with more! He has a wit to match Ruby and her obsession with Star Trek. Sorry, no Fifty Shades type of action going on here, but there is an interesting scene with a jelly fish. With a big heart and always on the lookout for new adventures, especially the ones involving the galaxy, he's impossible not to like!

Lovestruck had me mad that I had to go to the gym and put the book down but happy knowing what I was coming home to! A great read any time of the day or year, but bonus points if done on the beach! Just watch out for those jellies!

I follow his gaze to where my dress has ridden up. When I’m standing, it’s a modest length, but the leather seats in his Audi have hiked up the skirt and a few inches of my thighs are now on perfect display.
His gaze drags down, pausing on my lips for a moment before he trails down my neck and chest. He’s studying my dress—no, he’s studying my body beneath the fabric. His smile is slow to spread, a little haunting…sexual.

Release Day: The Summer Games: Settling The Score by R.S. Grey

Title: The Summer Games: Settling the Score
Author: R.S. Grey
Genre: Sports Romance/Romantic Comedy
Release Date: May 2, 2016
As an Olympic rookie, Andie Foster has spent far more time in her cleats than between the sheets. For 21 years, her Fridaynights have consisted of blocking shots rather than taking them. But now that she's landed in Rio, she's ready to see for herself if the rumors about the Olympic Village are true:
The athletes are all sex-crazed maniacs...
The committee passes out condoms like candy...
The games continue long after the medals have been handed out...
As Andie walks the line between rumor and reality, she's forced into the path of Frederick Archibald, a decorated Olympic swimmer and owner of a sexy British accent—too bad he's unavailable in a way that "it's complicated" doesn't even begin to explain.
In other words: off limits.
It doesn't matter that he has abs that could bring peace to the Middle East and a smile that makes even the Queen blush; Andie fully intends on keeping her focus on the soccer field. But the Village is small. Suffocating. Everywhere Andie goes, Freddie happens to be there—shirtless, wet from the pool, and determined to show her a whole new meaning of the phrase "international affairs".
I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.
I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

Review: His Princess by Abigail Graham

Title: His Princess
Pages: 200+
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services (March 27, 2016)
Source: Purchased
Rating: 4/5

Synopsis:

I'm no Cinderella, and he's no Prince Charming...

The Crown Prince took me prisoner. You read that right. Crown Prince. Castle, throne, the whole nine yards. The monarch of a totalitarian regime has me locked up in his fortress, and he demands that I marry him... and provide him with an heir!

Me. The girl from Jersey. Trust me, I'm no princess. He's the last man I'd choose for my prince!

He's an arrogant jerk and has a stick up his... you know where. But that dark hair, those deep blue eyes, those strong arms, those perfect abs, that humongous... sword. I can't stand him, but I can't keep my eyes off him.

I'm not marrying him and I'm definitely not his subject. If he wants me to be his princess, he better treat me like one or he can take his crown and shove it.

Review:
The Beautician and the Beast meets Abigail Graham!

If you know what this BatB is, then we can be friends.

If you don't like stories that involves a prince in a foreign land that kidnaps a beautiful girl for his own personal reasons then this book is not for you. But, if you do like the idea of being at the mercy of a hot prince, then this one is for you!

His Princess was a cliche at it's finest, and I mean that in the best way possible! Everyone loves a princess story but Penny isn't your average girl either. The girl from Jersey was in a forein land trying to do some humanitarian work when she was kidnapped by a murderous man and is rescued by the neighboring prince. But, after hearing the Prince's reputation, Penny isn't exactly sure if her odds are better now in the hands of the prince. After all, Penny just wants to go home but isn't allowed "for her own protection."

Prince Kristoff isn't quite as sweet and unhygienic as the one we all know and love from Frozen. This prince has no family and truly believes that he's ruling his land with his peoples best interests in mind. Penny, the strong willed girl who has no problem talking back to royalty, disagrees. So begins the unlikely love affair.

Both Penny and Kristoff were highly enjoyable characters. I enjoyed reading about them immensely. Penny's back mouth is refreshing both to the reader and I'm sure to Kristoff too. And let's be honest, who doesn't love a alpha male prince.

Warning, spoiler ahead!!

The reason that I did not give this story five out of five stars is because of the ending. No, I love happy endings just as much as everyone else, that's fine. But, the fact that Penny was so in love with the prince as soon as they slept together was a little off for me. At only a little over two hundred pages, that was the perfect time to add a little drama to spice it up.

Note, on Amazon it says 437 pages but there's a bonus book in there.

Okay, that's it guys. All in all, I really had fun with this!

For any of those who know me, you know that R.S. Grey is one of my absolute favorite authors so I'm thrilled to be able to be part of her cover reveal! We got a little sneak peak into the Olympic games in Catching Wilder (my favorite book from R.S. Grey and definitely one of my all time favorite novels in general) so I'm excited to see a little bit more of what the Olympics will have to offer to Andie.
